Ouch! That hurts...

Ayanna got a rude awakening while visiting her doc the other day. Fast asleep she was awakened by the piercing pain of the needle. What a cry it was!

At two months, Ayanna has now received the first of a series of jabs as part of her immunization.

Ayanna received her first immunization at birth for tuberculosis and Hepatitis B. Now at two months, the needle was loaded with the triple antigen (Diphtheria, Whooping Cough and Tetanus), oral polio and HIB (Meningitis).

As with other vaccines, this had few side effects. Ayanna had a fever that, thankfully, only lasted a day and some redness/ tenderness on the site of the injection. She was rather grouchy at times but was quickly soothed by some gentle rocking and cuddling. Nothing, though, could jeopardize her playtime.

Playtime puts a smile on Ayanna's little face.
