The Crucial Debate

We’ve been discussing this for some time. After all Ayanna will be 5 next month and it’s about time we decided. The debate – Private vs. International school.
The latter has won the debate. After debating both pros and cons and narrowing down the schools that fit our budget and education preference, we’ve chosen an International school. Ayanna begins this September her foray into the next level of education.
We chose International over Private for several reasons –
- As preparation for a future that may involve studying abroad
- An all-encompassing education curriculum that places equal emphasis on academics, the social and cultural development of a child through a diverse range of activities and extra-curriculum such as sports, music, art and drama.
- An education that uses English as its medium
- A class environment (smaller sized classes) that encourages and promotes interaction, critical and analytical thinking
We hope we have made the right decision towards providing Ayanna with an all-rounded education by choosing International schooling over other options.

Hi, it's nice reading your blogs, I am also standing at a cross roads thinking about where to send one of my sons to. I am also leaning towards international schools with almost similar reasons as yours. On my list I actually have the French Intl School on top with a few good recommendations by friends, I am also thinking Garden but it is so expensive. Do you mind sharing which intl school you've decided on? Also, can you give me the contact number for Case Ria kindie that your daughter goes to? I am considering for my other son who'll turn 2 soon. Thank you for your comments. It's nice to know that there are others that share the same thoughts about this. We've heard some real good thing about the French International school too. We've opted to send Ayanna, after much deliberation, to ELC in Sungai Buloh as it is close to where we live, price wise, it meets our budget, and we are pleased with their teaching objectives and goals.

May I please know why isn't public school part of your option?
We would like a more English-based curicculum for Ayanna, which the public school system does not offer, not even in Math and Science.
And of course through the years, we've lost faith in the quality of education offered in public schools, the calibre of teaching staff, etc.
