16th month update

Our little helper is gettting more adept at household chores

Shamindra turned 16 months this past week.

He’s still very much interested in exploring his surroundings, pushing his limits, and is more confident about his movement. Shamindra climbs atop the sofa, and strives to lift a heavy toy. This makes childproofing our home more essential now– everything breakable or toxic is tucked away far from groping hands.

Shamindra is also more apt at using his hands and fingers. He can deftly stack up his towering blocks, feed himself, turn pages, scribble, and insert shapes into its proper holes.

He can wave, hug and kiss; and loves to imitate behaviours especially that of his older sibling, Ayanna.

Shamindra has also started to throw tantrums- when things don’t go his way, he cries and falls to the ground (gentle enough as to not hurt his head, which always cracks me up). We usually ignore him which gets him off the floor and back to what he was doing in no time. It’s good to know that such impulses are healthy and normal.
