Ayanna is a late teether. She’s finally, at 14 months, getting her top teeth. And all four are sprouting at the same time! This could explain her refusal to feed due to the discomfort.
Her new set of chompers are now being used, as expected, to bite every possible surface, mummy included. The biting is playful and experimental. My reaction makes for interesting cause and effect, reinforcing the biting.
The most effective way so far has been to remove Ayanna calmly and matter-of-factly from the part she’s biting with a firm ‘No biting’ before diverting her attention to something else. Sometimes this is hard to do because my natural reaction of ‘ouch’ is quick and hard to control.
