Grandparents

Ayanna sees her grandparents every week. If not, she is happy to babble into the receiver with them.

She has a good relationship with her grandparents and her ammachi (maternal grandmother).

Grandparents have the best of all worlds- they have the joy of indulging Ayanna without the misery of living with the consequences. They get to spoil their grandchildren with a little extra of everything – love, time, material things. But, of course, not to a point where this spoiling regularly violates parental rules.

Grandparents also make the most reliable baby-sitters. Having a loving grandparent serve as a caregiver is ideal.
