Thank god for pears. Itís truly the wonder fruit to combat constipation.
Ayanna had a slight case of constipation over the weekend. Though it is rare in breastfed babies, with the introduction of solids a babyís digestive tract is exposed to foods that may cause this. Or baby is just not getting enough to drink. Constipation is typically characterized by infrequent bowel movements with stools that are hard and hard to pass.
The treatment usually includes some dietary changes. We increased her intake of fruits especially pears. We fed her pureed pears and pear juice. That did the trick. Apparently if youíre still breastfeeding, try drinking some pear juice yourself if your baby is constipated. It seems to work like magic!
