This past weekend Ayanna received yet another piercing jab. This time it was the vaccination for pneumococcal. As previous times, there was low-grade fever and slight swelling at the injection area.

Though not compulsory, we decided to go ahead with this newer vaccination after speaking to Ayanna’s pediatrician.

The pneumococcus bacterium is a major cause of illness among children, responsible for things such as ear infections, meningitis, pneumonia, blood infections and other illnesses. This vaccination is extremely effective in preventing the occurrence of certain types of ear infections, meningitis, pneumonia and other related life-threatening infections.
