Turning 30 months

Ayanna loves to play dress up.

Ayanna turned 30 months this past week. She's loving school, especially her teachers and friends.

Ayanna's becoming increasingly independent. She surprised me just yesterday by sitting on the potty without assistance. She's almost fully potty trained (at least during the day). Ayanna still wears her training pants through the night. She is eager to attempt putting on her own shoes and clothes.

Ayanna can spell her name, and also colours such as R-E-D.

Ayanna has an incredible eye and ear for detail. She's attuned to everything around her from the sounds, colours and movements that we tune out. She listens attentively to our conversations and surprises us by repeating a particular word or even an entire sentence.

She's also drawing relationships between things – how they are similar or different. For e.g. She is quick to point out that Daddy has no chin because he has a beard but Mummy and Ayanna do. Their acute attention to detail explains why preschoolers are quick to observe changes, even the tiniest detail.
