American actress Glenn Close has a daughter named Annie Maude Starke (born 1988) from her previous relationship with producer John Starke.

Close tells Female First magazine:

“Children are like clients - they want all of you all the time. It was actually something my daughter said to me. She must have been about eight. She said, 'Mum, I want all of you all of the time.' And it killed me, because I was a single parent, and I knew that I couldn't give her that. I've always been aware that's the only thing she ever wanted.

“When you're a kid, you want your parent home, and you want them home even when you're not. And that's one of the securities you can give your child. When the parent is always going away, it sets up a different dynamic. Thank God, I have this rather old-soul, fabulous daughter who has always been able to articulate it. When she gets angry, she says what makes her angry. So, I think we've survived, but it's very, very difficult.”
