If your girl is a fan of Barbie, you'll want to get this DVD for her. There aren't really any bad Barbie movies – it's just a matter of what sort of values you want to teach your child.
Barbie movies often have values and lessons to be learnt. That's the good part. The sad part is that your child, after watching this, might plead with you to get a new Barbie doll or some accessories.
Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 takes off from where Barbie in a Mermaid Tale ended. Merliah (princess and daughter to Queen Calissa) has the magic necklace that allows her to move from sea to land and switch from having her mermaid tail to human legs.
She loves swimming in the sea with her friends just as much as she loves surfing the waves in her human form.
With a big surf tournament coming up, Merliah and her friends are really excited. The competition is between her and Kylie, her biggest rival.
Unfortunately, the date clashes with the “Change of the Tides” ritual which is performed every 20 years in the mermaid world. While Queen Calissa does not want Merliah to conduct the ceremony, for fear she may turn into a mermaid permanently, she does want her daughter there to witness this very important ritual.
Merliah, on the other hand, is adamant that she wants to go for her surf competition and argues that her mother doesn't care about her or what is important to her.
Off she goes for her surf competition only to have Kylie steal her necklace. The evil Eris uses Kylie to secure her own release. Eris then threatens to rule the mermaid world and disrupt the Change of Tides ceremony.
Will Merliah be able to help? Will she get her priorities straight?
This is a good DVD to teach your kids about family first, getting their priorities straight and taking care of what's important.
Girls will definitely love this movie. Those who watched the first part, will enjoy the continuity, too.
