Games we play in the car

I am among the lucky mums who work in a company that provides a childcare centre. That means my children and I spend time together going to work and on the way back. But having three kids aged eight, four and two-and-a-half years old in a car, and expecting them to sit still is a challenge.

To beat the boredom when traffic is bad (which normally is the case), we play “Let’s find.” We take turns to give instructions on what to look for. My children's favourite is “Let’s find the (insert colour) car.”

My youngest son loves yellow, so it is always yellow for him, whilst my second girl will choose orange. But those two colours are not the typical colour for cars, so we have fun concentrating to find cars of those colours.

Apart from that, we play “Read the car plate.” The kids will read the car plate in front of our car. The two young ones always mix up the numbers 5 and 2. I find these two games entertaining for the kids, and also helpful in teaching them to focus.
