Question

Children Football Dear Shebby,

My eight-year-old son is very interested in football. Is it too soon to enrol him in a soccer club?

Please advise.

Pushpa

Answer

Answered by Shebby Pushpa,
That is the age they take them in at La Masia the Barcelona academy.
At this moment, a choice of club will be based on logistics.
At home though, buy him a size 4 rubber or plastic ball. Ensure he always has a ball at his feet at home no matter what he is doing.
Make sure too that he uses both feet when he is walking the ball (dribbling) around the house.
And finally, he has to juggle the ball at least 10 times before every meal.

Please keep in touch and we hope we could have a family day with ParenThots to check on the progress?

Regards
Shebby
