Question

Children Son picking up bad habits My son is 5 and goes to the kindergarten in the mornings. From there he goes to my sister's house in the afternoons. I pick him up after work at about 6.30pm. During that 5-6 hours with my sister, I notice he's been picking up some bad habits and his English has become worse as well. He has started screaming and throwing tantrums. What do you suggest I do? I don't want to upset my sister by removing my child from her home as she has become quite attached to him. - Vimala

Answer

Answered by Shebby There are 3 things you need to do:

1. Go to his kindergarten and have a word with his teacher / caretaker to find out if he behaves the same way there too. It is also important to know the standard of English being taught in his kindergarten.

2. Speak with your sister about his behaviour and lay down some house rules. Every child goes through this tantrum period but your sister must not give in to his every demand. She has to play bad guy as well sometimes!

And if the above two do not identify the problem, then,

3. Give your son a good spanking but make sure you do it in private!
